Overview
A PC wallpaper design inspired by catching up with the Bleach anime. This personal project channels the series' distinctive visual style into a desktop-ready piece of digital art.
The Inspiration
After catching up with Bleach—one of the foundational anime series—I felt compelled to create something. The show's visual identity is so distinctive: high contrast, dramatic compositions, and that signature blend of Japanese aesthetics with supernatural action.
This wasn't client work or a brief. It was pure creative expression, the kind of project that reminds you why you started designing in the first place.
Design Approach
The goal was creating something that honored the source material while working as a functional desktop wallpaper. That meant considering icon placement, text legibility over the image, and the fact that this would be viewed for hours at a time.
I focused on capturing the mood rather than recreating specific scenes. Bleach has a particular atmosphere—that liminal space between the living world and Soul Society—and I wanted the wallpaper to evoke that feeling.

Reflection
Personal projects like this serve an important purpose. They're playgrounds where you can experiment without stakes, push into styles you might not attempt for clients, and reconnect with what made you love creating in the first place. This wallpaper now lives on my own desktop—a daily reminder of both the series that inspired it and the joy of making things for their own sake.
